Do you know your PDQ?

Physicians champion quality and safety

You might think that “PDQ” stands for pretty darn quick. But it stands for physician director of quality.

Each UF College of Medicine department has assigned at least one faculty member to serve as its PDQ. The PDQ champions the department’s quality and safety improvement efforts. Responsibilities include reviewing patient safety reports and participating in unit-based quality departmental teams. The PDQs serve on our highest level quality committee, the Patient Safety and Quality Evaluation Committee.

Donald Novak, M.D., a UF College of Medicine pediatrician, said, “The PDQ role has introduced a sense of urgency and accountability for real improvement. We’re bringing physicians and hospital management together for more robust and effective discussions on quality and patient safety topics to produce change.”

Find your PDQ on this list and please help support their efforts.
