Gator Advantage offers free parking for employee patients

That’s right. GatorAdvantage members can now park for free on campus when visiting a UF&Shands provider for an outpatient appointment. The $4 parking fee will be waived for UF and Shands employees with health insurance accepted by our health system.

Even as an employee, it’s often difficult to navigate the Shands and UF Health Science Center campus to make a patient appointment on time. Many of us already pay for campus parking and have paid extra to park closer for an appointment at a UF Physicians practice or for a Shands ancillary such as lab, radiology or rehab services.

Free parking expands our GatorAdvantage benefits and helps us improve our patients’ experience, initially focusing on our own staff who use our services. We are working with UF to explore extending free parking to all our patients.

“We definitely are very encouraged that this change has been made, it’s very beneficial to our employees who are patients,” said Sarah McNeal, a clinic manager at the UF Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Institute. “It’s our desire to give them the best service possible and this is another step in the right direction.” Don’t forget: When checking out after your visit, please identify yourself as a GatorAdvantage member. You will get a voucher for that day’s visit to give to the parking garage attendant to waive your fee.
