ROUNDING HAS PROMISING RESULTS

ROUNDING HAS PROMISING RESULTS

We recently celebrated National Quality and Patient Safety Week by kicking off hospital-wide rounding at Shands at the University of Florida. Board Quality Committee members and UF physicians partnered with hospital leaders to conduct special rounding focused on the “I Promise” initiative. The rounding teams shared their own promises and asked staff to also share their promises.

Feedback from the rounding was very positive. We got to see that “I Promise” is becoming part of our hospital culture. Most of the hospital units were familiar with the campaign and enthusiastically shared their first-person statements and commitment to patient care. Some inpatient units have prominently posted staff promises on special display boards.

“I Promise” rounding was so successful that we will repeat it quarterly. The next session will be June 17 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The focus will be on patient and staff perception of cleanliness and other areas where we’re working to improve patient satisfaction.
