Please join us in welcoming UF&Shands senior vice president and chief quality officer Randy Harmatz, who began this new position on Aug. 22.

She most recently served as the vice president for quality at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, where she was responsible for all aspects of the clinical quality program for the 947-bed academic medical center. She also provided quality program oversight and direction to seven facilities in the University Hospitals system. During her tenure, University Hospitals Case Medical Center made substantial improvement in its quality outcomes. It was recognized as a top performer in the University Healthsystem Consortium Quality and Accountability Study, moving from a ranking of 74th to ninth.

Harmatz received her master’s in business administration and health administration at Bernard M. Baruch College/Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York and a bachelor of arts in economics from Boston University.

She has relocated to Gainesville with her husband, Wayne Matott; daughter, Samantha, who is now a freshman at Oak Hall; and Sara, her 19-year-old daughter who is a sophomore at Ohio State University and somewhat distressed by her parents’ relocation to The Gator Nation.
