Thanks for helping us fend off flu season

With the 2015-16 flu season behind us, we would like to thank our staff, faculty, residents, students and volunteers for complying with flu vaccination policies.
Matching last year’s effort, 95 percent of UF Health Shands employees received their flu vaccination this year. We appreciate your efforts to protect our patients and their families, visitors, staff and the community.

“Vaccination is a major component to preventing the spread of flu in our hospital,” said Scott Brown, UF Health Shands Hospital Infection Control director. “A high vaccination rate among our staff is a great demonstration of our dedication to patient safety.”

With the assistance of UF Health Shands nursing staff during on-site vaccination events, UF Health Shands Occupational Health Services staff administered and received proof of more than 12,450 vaccinations for UF Health Shands employees; UF College of Medicine faculty and residents; volunteers; and credentialed ARNPs, physician assistants and medical staff this flu season.
