HOUSESTAFF QUALITY AND PATIENT SAFETY COMMITTEE
Members of the UF College of Medicine Housestaff Quality and Patient Safety Committee, or HQPSC, are the residents and fellows who advocate for clinical quality within their respective departments. This group guides the Graduate Medical Education Committee and the associate dean of GME in policies related to the housestaff learning environment to ensure the continued high quality of GME experiences at UF Health. Committee membership is vetted through a rigorous application process and each member serves a two-year term before receiving a Certificate of Completion in Quality, Patient Safety and Leadership. Each HQPSC member must complete the following:
- Attend more than 50% of the meetings during their term or send a delegate: meetings include monthly committee meetings and quarterly meetings with the Physician Directors of Quality, or PDQs
- Actively participate in a group HQPSC quality improvement project
- Apprise the committee of residency and fellow-led quality improvement projects in their department
- Complete a brief quarterly report in collaboration with their department PDQ
- Complete required quality improvement training, including the Institute for Healthcare Improvement Open School online program within the first six months of term and attend two half-day leadership education sessions annually
